National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences (NACCAS) is an indepedent and autonomous accrediting commission located in Alexandria, Virginia. It is recognized by the US Department of Education as a national agency for the institutional accreditation of postsecondary schools and departments of cosmetology arts and sciences, including specialized schools. It presently accredits approximately 1,600 institutions that serve over 120,000 students.

Fundamentals: The Fundamentals portion of the curriculum helps students learn what they need to know without having to dive into deep text. Using modules with lesson plans and interactive activities, the learning experience is instantly enhanced while providing streamlined text for easier studying and memory retention.

LAB: The Learn About Beauty (LAB) Platform uses technology to connect students with the beauty industry. It is available 24/7, providing the student a more convenient approach to traditional studying. Program Description

The 1200-hour Cosmetology Program at Summit Salon Academy – Gainesville includes theory and practical instruction that prepares the student to perform all aspects of the cosmetology program. Training two types of learning, the theoretical knowledge, and the practical experience to build the skills needed to be successful in the profession.

We have diverse full-time and part-time schedule options to facilitate training for our students. The program length of our 1200-Hour Cosmetology Program depends on the selected schedule.

  • Full-Time: Schedule1 (40 Weeks)
  • Full-Time: Schedule 2 (40 Weeks)
  • Part-Time: Schedule 3 (71 Weeks)

The course is taught in the English language using a variety of current educational instructional techniques including lecture, demonstration, visual aids, textbook review, practice on live models (under the supervision of licensed instructors), and testing.

Upon completion of our cosmetology program, you will be ready to take the State Board Exam to obtain your cosmetology license.

Program Objective

Prepare the student for the Florida State Board of Cosmetology Examination to become a Licensed Cosmetologist and enter the field of beauty.

The grading scale for all academic work is as follows:

  • 100-94% – Honor Roll
  • 93 -89% – Above Average
  • 88 -85% – Average
  • 84% and Below – Unsatisfactory

  • An overview of the laws set forth by the state of Florida for cosmetologists. Students will gain knowledge about the laws, rules, and regulations in relation to consumer protection for the health and Beauty Industry and gain economic awareness skills necessary for cosmetologists. 4-hour HIV/AIDS Certification Theory.

  • Through the course of the cosmetology program students will have four section reviews and final exams. This subject is for preparation of those exams and the testing time allocated for completing those exams.

  • This subject consists of preparing students to take their Florida State Cosmetology Licensing Exam. Students will go through a series of practice exams to ensure that they will be able to successfully pass their Licensing Exam.
